Founded in 1967 by Mike and Maxine Colacino, Maxie’s originated on Ingersoll just west of downtown. Before moving to it’s current location, the former King’s Food Host building, and was taken over by Jim Glenn who expanded the menu and grew the restaurant into a neighborhood staple, theme song and all. Jim sold the business in 2006 to set off for retirement and enjoy his grandchildren. Louie Mayfield and son Andy ran the business from 2006 until early 2023, when Anna Suttie took over ownership to keep the Maxie’s tradition alive.
